> Soil & Climate
Soil
Pomegranate can be grown on a wide range of soils.
However, it grows well in medium deep, loamy and
well-drained soils having a pH of 7.5. Heavy soils
with poor drainage facilities are unsuitable for
its cultivation. Semiarid climate with mild winters
and hot summers are ideal for its growth. Pomegranates
can be successfully grown in areas with temperature
ranging from 25-35° C and an annual rainfall
of 500- 800mm.
Climate
Hot and dry climate during fruit development
improves its fruit quality. The plants are affected
if the O temperature remains below 11° C for
a longer time. Humid climate during fruit setting
adversely affects the fruit colour development,
quality and increases pest and disease attack.
