In the irrigated areas many rotations of Gfops involving maize are feasible. Crops like wheat, potato, toria, sugarcane, chick pea, berseem, lucerne, barley and oats etc., can be grown after harvest of maize. Some of the most important cropping systems are given below.

Crops like soybean, blackgram, moong, cowpea etc., are grown mixed with maize. These legume crops are grown in the space between two rows of maize. In Bihar mixed cropping of groundnut with maize in quite profitable. In certain areas maize with pigeon pea is also grown.
